EMPTORIS, HEINZ, DOW CORNING AND VODAFONE EXECUTIVES HONORED FOR GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP

Emptoris Software Empowers Leading Businesses to Realize Value and Accelerate Growth


Burlington, Mass. – March 10, 2006 – Emptoris, the leading provider of Enterprise Supply Management solutions for Global 1000 companies, announced today that its data management expert and three global clients have been recognized as “Pros to Know” by Supply & Demand Chain Executive Magazine.

This annual program honors professionals from supply and demand chain software providers and their customers, who possess extensive industry knowledge and innovative forward-thinking. Three Emptoris customers, Heinz, Dow Corning and Vodafone, were named as “Practitioner Pros to Know,” while Emptoris’ Kirit Pandit was named as a “Provider Pro to Know.”

Heinz Recipient Saves $75M
Rob Hemsley, Director of Heinz European Purchasing, delivered on a challenge to drive transformation and achieved over $75M of savings, better quality products and company-wide recognition of the value of procurement. Hemsley was able to accomplish this by developing and implementing new technologies to deliver procurement efficiencies and savings.

Dow Corning Standardizes Procurement Data Globally
Mike Lanham, Program Leader of Dow Corning Procurement, initiated a project to help supply managers understand their area of spend responsibility, and make the company’s global data consistent for analysis and RFP preparation. Lanham and his team worked with Emptoris to develop a commodity classification structure covering 45,000 items, more than 20,000 vendors and 98 percent of all global spend. Using this data, Lanham raised Procurement spend coverage to over 85 percent of all spend globally.

Vodafone Dials Up Savings Through Data Visibility
Gary Allen, Global Supply Chain Manager for Vodafone, worked with Emptoris to develop the Vodafone Global eSourcing Platform to establish visibility into the company’s decentralized spending. To date, the sourcing platform has been leveraged by more than 600 internal Vodafone users/buyers, 1,350 supplier organizations. Vodafone realized exponential savings, and increased visibility of it’s spend and enhanced contract compliance.

Emptoris Cures Toxic Data
Kirit Pandit, vice president of content services at Emptoris, was honored for his development of a spend data management solution to cure “toxic content.” Kirit is responsible for designing solutions that elicit value from procurement processes and data to enable better compliance, process, and spend analysis.
