Supply Management Market
Burlington, Mass. – October 3, 2005 – Emptoris, the leading provider of Enterprise Supply Management solutions for Global 5000 companies, today announced the appointment of Burt Rubenstein to the position of chief technology officer. Rubenstein brings 30 years of experience in software development and 20 years as chief technologist at several technology companies. In this newly-created position, Rubenstein is tasked with helping to transition Emptoris from its early adoption stage to rapid growth in the Enterprise Supply Management market.
“Emptoris brings innovation to supply management, empowering enterprises to realize the best value from their supply base and accelerate profitable growth,” said Avner Schneur, founder, president and CEO, Emptoris. “We are continuously striving to address the mission-critical needs of our customers, and this new CTO appointment will help us to meet those dynamic demands. Burt's background in professional services and technology combined with his proven track record made him the ideal candidate for this role.”
“Emptoris is a well-established player in the Enterprise Supply Management market, with a solid customer base and an excellent reputation,” said Rubenstein. “I am excited to join the company as it makes the transition from an early to mid size organization. I look forward to leading Emptoris' technology initiatives as the company continues to aggressively expand the breadth and depth of its cutting edge offerings and position itself for continued success.”
Most recently, Rubenstein served as the CTO of Genuone, Inc., a supply chain visibility and security firm. He also helped two companies, Cambridge Technology Partners and Index Technology Corporation, achieve successful initial public offerings (IPOs) during his tenures as CTO.
Also an entrepreneur, Rubenstein co-founded two companies, including Just Access, Inc., a pioneer in electronic ticketing for live events, and Internet Business Advantages, an early player in large Internet-based applications that was acquired by ServiceSoft. Earlier in his career, Rubenstein has held several management and technology positions at companies such as YankeeTek Ventures, Groupe Bull and Index Systems.
In addition to his strong industry experience, Rubenstein is a frequent speaker at software development conferences on software productivity, software metrics and object orientation. He also acts as a regular speaker, panelist and organizer for Massachusetts Software Council events. As an alum of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Rubenstein is actively involved in his local community, acting as recruiter, interviewer and mentor for the MIT Educational Council and Webmaster for the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston. He is also a former selectman and school committee member and currently volunteers as a firefighter, EMT and director of emergency medical services for the Town of Carlisle.
