EMPTORIS APPOINTS JONATHAN MARK TO ITS ADVISORY BOARD

Burlington, Mass., July 2, 2002 - Emptoris, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative strategic sourcing solutions, today announced that it has named Jonathan Mark, currently President of Sentinel Investments, LLC, an investment and advisory firm, to the company's advisory board. In this role, Mark will assist Emptoris in evaluating potential new markets and industries ready for adoption of the company's collaborative sourcing solutions.

Before joining Sentinel Investments, Mark was a Senior Managing Director of Castle Harlan, Inc., a private equity investment firm, serving effectively as its Chief Investment Officer. In addition, he was on the board of a number of Castle Harlan portfolio companies. Mark currently serves on the board of Network-1, a NASDAQ-traded, software-based security company. Previously, he was a Director of Bain & Company in Boston, and a member of Bain's Investment Committee, initiating and leading Bain's East Coast Private Equity Group. Prior to that, he headed Bain's Worldwide Consumer Products Practice. While working with some of the USA's leading manufacturing corporations over a ten year period, Mark helped to develop the strategic insights that guided Bain's Procurement Practice.
