BURLINGTON,
Mass., January 7, 2002 - Emptoris, Inc., a leading provider
of collaborative strategic sourcing solutions, today announced
that it has partnered with Marrakech, to expand the distribution
channel for Emptoris' ePASS software solution to a global audience.
Under the terms of the agreement, Marrakech will resell ePASS,
a collaborative strategic sourcing platform, in Europe and South
America. ePASS will complement the Marrakech Network, a highly-scaleable
e-business solution, by providing it with complete, end-to-end
strategic sourcing capabilities, including supplier qualification,
sourcing event management, negotiation and supply base allocation.
"Companies
striving to compete in today's global economy need to take advantage
of all cost efficiencies throughout the supply chain," said
Kelly Murphy, CEO of Marrakech. "After reviewing all of the
leading e-sourcing vendors, we decided to partner with Emptoris
due to its superior technology, services and staff. The partnership
will provide our customers with a comprehensive e-sourcing platform
that will result in dramatic savings in every phase of the strategic
sourcing process. ePASS complements the suite of commerce services
on the Marrakech Network, that has been developed to meet the
demands of the enterprise supply chain."
By
implementing ePASS, multiple purchasing organizations across an
enterprise can efficiently aggregate and disseminate their sourcing
needs to their primary suppliers. Its collaborative sourcing capabilities
enables primary suppliers to interact with other suppliers and
quickly respond to buyer demand. Through ePASS' optimization-based
decision support technology, buyers can quickly analyze all purchasing
scenarios through scientific algorithms to come to the optimal
supply base allocation. The combination of advanced collaboration,
sourcing event management and decision support capabilities, enables
buyers to lower the total cost of ownership while enabling suppliers
to differentiate themselves through product criteria, historical
performance and flexible pricing structures.
"Over
the past year Emptoris dramatically expanded its customer base
in the United States and started penetrating other markets around
the world," said Avner Schneur, president and CEO of Emptoris.
"Through our partnership with Marrakech, we will now be able
to significantly increase our ability to offer ePASS to enterprises
throughout Europe and South America. In order to expand our global
customer-base, Emptoris will continue to form strategic alliances
with leading international channel companies, such as Marrakech."
