DEMANTRA AND EMPTORIS PARTNER TO DELIVER DEMAND-DRIVEN STARTEGIC SOURCING FOR ENTERPRISE AND NET MARKETS


Cambridge Mass. and Burlington Mass., November 13, 2000 - Emptoris, Inc., the leading provider of dynamic, B2B e-commerce solutions, and collaborative demand management expert Demantra, Inc. (www.demantra.com) announced today that the two companies have partnered to offer customers a Web-based end-to-end solution that combines demand management and strategic sourcing capabilities. Under the terms of the agreement, Emptoris' ePASS™, an advanced strategic sourcing solution that enables net market makers and Global 5000 companies to source goods and services over the Internet, will integrate with Demantra's suite of demand management solutions for demand-driven Interprises, which includes its soon to be released Parts Planner™ component.

By using ePASS in conjunction with the Demantra Demand Planner and Parts Planner solutions, buyers can more easily and accurately predict demand, assess information on quality, quantity, price and on-time delivery, and complete the procurement and sourcing process cost-effectively. Demantra brings to the partnership expertise in the front-end aggregation, forecasting & planning of customer demand data. Once demand information has been gathered using the Demantra system, buyers can then strategically source goods and services using ePASS, which incorporates customizable business rules, advanced workflow and optimization technology to allow buyers to make the best possible online procurement decisions.

ePASS enables buyers to consider factors other than price, such as product quality, existing buyer/supplier contracts and supplier performance ratings. In addition, ePASS allows suppliers to protect profit margins by providing them with flexible bidding options, such as bundled bids and volume discounts.
