EMPTORIS EXTENDS LEADERSHIP
WITH SOLUTION INNOVATIONS
New Advanced Sourcing Service,Opportunity Identification,
and Global Contracting Increase Bottom Line
Impact and Market Differentiation
Burlington, MA – (April 18, 2007) – Emptoris, the leading provider of enterprise supply and contract management software, announced today several differentiated innovations that deliver significant bottom line impact to its customers. These innovations include a new Advanced Sourcing Service for addressing high-value and high-risk categories of spend, a unique Opportunity Identification capability within the Emptoris Spend Analysis solution, and contract management innovations for governance of Global Contracting. The new offerings demonstrate the exceptional bottom-line impact attained with Emptoris’ best-in-class suite.
“Leading global corporations demand real and significant bottom-line returns from their technology investments” said Avner Schneur, Chief Executive Officer of Emptoris, Inc. “We’ve worked with over 150 recognized leaders to impact their businesses. We do this with our unique solution DNA, our advanced capabilities, and our unique category and vertical expertise. With these latest innovations, Emptoris continues its track record of providing the market’s deepest and most impactful supply and contract management software.”
“Our research shows that most enterprises are not looking to ERP systems to provide the next level of procurement and sourcing value,” said Vance Checketts, Vice President, Global Supply Management at Aberdeen Group. “Rather than wait for the next big release or upgrade, leading organizations are adding innovative, best of breed application suites that extend their ERP investment. This provides immediate and lasting value.”
Emptoris solutions are widely adopted among Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies to provide critical functionality and to deliver bottom-line value that is unattainable with their existing ERP systems. More than 60% of Emptoris customers run SAP or Oracle ERP.
New Advanced Sourcing Service
Over 60% of the global economy relies on effective sourcing of very complex categories. These categories include transportation, packaging, print, and fleet vehicles, which often involve sourcing of $100 Million of dollars or more in a single event. The savings potential is enormous, often in the range of 14 to 23%, but so is the degree of complexity, which comes from hundreds of thousands of bids and the need to optimize millions of data points across hundreds of business constraints from various suppliers and stake-holders.
Due to changing market conditions, businesses today require greater nimbleness and sophistication in sourcing these categories. These businesses are also extremely sensitive to risks involved in e-sourcing these categories, due to the significant spend represented by each sourcing event.
The Emptoris Advanced Sourcing Service provides a turn-key solution for addressing these high-value, high-risk spend categories. With the addition of this service Emptoris customers can address any aspect of the sourcing spectrum, from traditional low-hanging opportunities, through the long-tail of diverse spend categories, and now the mega-events involving significant scale, complexity, and risk.
The Emptoris Advanced Sourcing Service is comprised of the following elements:
- Advanced Analytics Capabilities - Rapidly analyze and optimize 100’s of thousands of bids, millions of bid attributes, and 100’s of business constraints, allowing businesses to quickly understand tradeoffs and make the optimal business decisions.
- E-Sourcing Category Expertise – Specialists augment and help customers in the sourcing of complex categories, including transportation, packaging, print, and fleet vehicles.
- Highly Scalable, High-Availability Infrastructure – To ensure success and mitigate technology risks that are often introduced due to the scale typically required for these types of events.
- Event Management Services – Includes supplier on-boarding and training, large event monitoring services, and post-event analysis and reporting.
The Emptoris Advanced Sourcing Service is available from Emptoris or from qualified Emptoris partners.
New Opportunity Identification
“Emptoris has worked with its Global 2000 customers over the past few years to help them evolve beyond global spend visibility,” said Schneur. “The next wave in Spend Analysis is pin-point and detailed opportunity identification. We see companies rapidly adopting this new capability and driving it across their entire sourcing organization.”
Emptoris’ new Opportunity Identification capabilities include:
- Opportunity Identification: Uncovers and prioritizes new areas for savings, by allowing the user to pose powerful questions to the Emptoris Spend Analyzer module. These questions can be very simple or quite complex. With the new functionality, a sourcing professional can, for instance, quickly identify high value vendor rationalization opportunities by asking the system to identify large spend categories with a highly fragmented supply base. The matching opportunities are instantly returned, and each one is available for detailed Micro-Analysis.
- Micro-Analysis: Users interactively drill into and analyze the opportunity in a unique context that is relevant for those opportunities. This detailed analysis, which is not available in ERP or business data warehouse solutions, creates actionable insights which translate into quickly executed sourcing and compliance initiatives that can save millions. Emptoris supports and controls many concurrent users, each drilling and performing their own Micro-Analysis of opportunities.
- Adoption and Usage Tracking:One of the best predictors of a successful savings program is broad adoption of spend analysis. To provide companies with a better way to track adoption, a new adoption analysis capability has been added which provides tracking of spend analysis usage across the procurement organization.
New Global Contracting
Companies are increasingly asked to manage better their global agreements, driven by greater regulatory pressures, an increase in global trade, an increase in center-led governance, and an increase in complex outsourcing and off shoring arrangements. Thus, companies require better processes and oversight of contracting activities regardless of geographic location. They also require the handling of multi-language agreements and global/local contract relationships. The latest enhancements to the Emptoris Contract Management solution support global contracting with the following innovations:
- Multi Lingual User Interface and Support:The user interface and customer support services are offered in 10 global business languages, including multi-byte languages.
- Multi-locale Contracts:Allows companies to maintain one contract in multiple languages, supporting local regulations. Updates to the contract data attributes automatically flow through to each language section version of the contract, with structured data (e.g. dates), automatically converted by the locale’s formatting rules.
- Global Business Protocol: Users can view and monitor global contracts with local formats for contract data attributes such as currency, weights and measures, and dates and times. The integrity of global negotiated terms, such as payment currency, can be either maintained in a global standard or adapted to local market standards.
- Global Master and Local Subordinate Contracts:Contracts are designated as global or local, and relationships can be established between global and local agreements impacted by a global agreement.
