What to do in Boston
Boston Tours
- Boston Duck Tours: Boston’s Famous Duck Tours will take you on a renovated World War II amphibious landing vehicle (the “Ducks”) to see Boston by land and water. Advanced reservations are recommended and can be made with the Concierge (March-November).
- Old Town Trolley: Get acquainted with Boston via Old Town Trolley, a 90 minute tour that will give you an interesting perspective of Boston and its place in history. Tickets are available at the Concierge.
- Freedom Trail: Walk to Boston Common and begin the Freedom Trail. Sixteen historic sites, all significant in this country’s early struggle for freedom, are connected by a 2.5 mile red line that runs from Boston Common to the Bunker Hill Monument.
- Sam Adams Brewery: Take a tour and learn the history of the Boston Beer Company, brewer of Sam Adams beer, since its beginnings in 1984. Visitors will also get a chance to see the brewing process at work. At the end of the guided tour, visitors get a taste of the famous Boston Lager and seasonal brews.
Destination Tours
- Historic Destinations: Take a Brush Hill Tour to one of the many historic destinations available, such as Lexington and Concord, Cape Cod, Plymouth or Newport, RI. Advance reservations can be made with the Concierge (May-October).
- Historic Salem: Drive to Salem, the place of the Salem Witch Trials and the birthplace of the American Navy. Travel there by commuter rail, ferry (seasonal) or take a Brush Hill Tour. Reservations are available at the Concierge.
- Cape Cod & the Islands: Take a day trip to Cape Cod and the islands of Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket (seasonal).
Theatre/Museums
- Boston Theatre District: See a musical or play in Boston’s Theatre District. Bostix at Faneuil Hall has ½ price tickets for same day performances.
- Art Museums: Enjoy Boston’s wonderful Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.
- Museum of Science: The Museum of Science, home to the Omni Theater and Planetarium, are terrific places for children.
- New England Aquarium: Visit the New England Aquarium, located at Central Wharf. If you enjoy seafaring, try a whale watch or harbor tour.
- IMAX Theatres: See an educational film in IMAX 3D technology at either the Aquarium’s Simons IMAX theatre or the Museum of Science’s Mugar Omni Theater.
Shopping
- Newbury Street: Take a stroll in Boston’s fashionable district, Newbury Street, and enjoy lunch at an outdoor café.
- Faneuil Hall Marketplace: Peruse Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market, where there are fun places to shop, eat and people watch.
- The North End (Little Italy): Visit the North End section of Boston with more than 100 Italian restaurants, shops and cafés.
Boston Traditions
- Ride the subway to the Arlington Street stop and wander through the Public Garden where you can take a famous Swan Boat ride, visit the Bull & Finch Pub on Beacon Street, inspiration for the hit television show "Cheers", or to the Fenway subway stop for the Fenway Park tour.
